Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3: Face Off Multiplayer Maps Review Part 2.

Oh hello again, I see you enjoyed the last edition to the Modern Warfare 3 Face Off Multiplayer Maps. If you missed out and you’re interested please click the following link here – Then come back here to continue your journey as we go deeper and deeper into the world of Call of Duty.

Many Call of Duty users got their hands on two Elite ‘Face Off’ maps and others felt a little disappointed. Not to worry your little heads as Infinity Ward brought two yes two FREE ‘Face Off’ maps for you non Elite gamers. What are they you say? Sit back, grab that hot chocolate and read on to find out more about Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 Face Off Multiplayer Maps.

Erosion:

A non productive start turned into a productive morning after reading a Tweet stating that the PS Store bundled the FREE ‘Face Off’ maps. I as many others were excited to see what they were after a small download. The first to drop to my feet was Erosion, this saw Mediterranean ruins that also used a leftover Roman masonry.

To start off Erosion is by far a murky brown filled clay contrast filled with a dirty paths leading down the side of the map. This then leads to a sneaky camper that can use the tower in the middle of the map to gain that height advantage. If you’re looking to get a quick kill/death don’t run down the middle, you’ll get picked off by a sniper.

I have to admit the game modes for this map work brilliantly – Now I didn’t expect to say Domination is fantastic. Kill Confirmed however, can be a little tight whilst running 3vs3 as many run different routes, but then again who doesn’t stand somewhere close so they can pick you off before you get their tags? To be successful at this map for Domination I’d go for flags A and C. Now I know everyone loves the B but on this it’s not needed.

Whilst in the tower that’s located towards the middle of the map you can look out each window. This then gives you and your team and bigger advantage as you can state where the enemy are coming from. I’ve been a little naughty and camped in the tower and got myself a lovely 23-0 start but got picked off and failed to get that M.O.A.B. Don’t forget to place a Claymore or Bouncing Betty below the tower, you don’t want to get shot in the back.

To say Infinity Ward stated these were going to be ‘Small’ multiplayer maps; I have to say I disagree with this one. Erosion is pretty big in size compared to ‘Getaway’, and ‘Lookout’ – Two Elite ‘Face Off’ maps. If this map was a little smaller it would be far better and I’d look forward to play it more.

With all the given information above I’d have to rate Erosion: 7/10

  • The maps a little too big for a ‘Face Off’ map.
  • Watch out for the camper/sniper in the tower.
  • Each game mode works/runs perfectly.

Aground:

As many would like to know the next FREE ‘Face Off’ map was a dull looking Island located in Scotland. Yes, that’s right it’s Aground. Do you like the sea, or remains of a grounded ship? Then wait no more as this map is for you. When first looking at Aground I had an opened mind, as I do with any map before gaming on it. I have to admit, I enjoy this map not only because of it’s layout but the fact it’s got the British feeling.

First off I’d like to say this map is brilliant for a vast majority of weapons, from the ACR, to the Type 95, along with the Sniper Rifles. You can have so much fun, depending on the gun/perks/point streaks you use. Heck even the MP7 can be used as a backup – Or you can use it as your second gun via Over Kill.

The caves that run down the right hand side hold a cheeky sniper from time to time but don’t worry, there’s always the other side you clan flank he/she from. The fact that the ship is broken into two parts makes great use of the map, as this provides instant non-stop action. As fun as this map may seem don’t be tempted to take a dip in the sea as well you’ll die. Call of Duty’s always got ways of catching you off balance and loves to kill you even when you’ve done nothing wrong.

The rocks located towards the back of A Dom are brilliant cover if an enemy is running towards you. However, don’t get caught upon the rocks as his/hers team mate could flank you from behind. Quite a lot of the action takes place upon the side of the rocky faced cave and top end of the ship. Watch out for Betty, she loves to make an appearance from time to time.

Another thing is the colours, this map is full of dark greys and that rusty looking copper orange located upon the ship. Just that look and contrast alone makes this map stand out from the others. The greens running down the bank make it slightly colourful, but it doesn’t spoil the metal work in any way.

A rating like the one I’m given makes the map it’s own: 9/10

  • The colour contrast is unique and stands out.
  •  Watch out for that sea, it’s a killer.
  • A different amount of cover can be used all over the map.
