Many of us were looking forward to seeing more of Naughty Dog’s new offering at E3 and frankly we were not disappointed. We learnt that a pandemic has changed known civilisation, the game is set 20 years after the disease broke out and humanity has changed drastically, with infected humans going wild and desperate survivors killing each other for food. Sounds damn harsh and bloody brutal.
We play as Joel, a ruthless survivor, who lives in one of the last remaining Quarantine Zones. These walled-off, oppressive cities are run by what’s left of the military. Joel operates in the black market of the city, smuggling contraband for the right price and is hired to smuggle a 14 year-old girl, Ellie, out of an oppressive military quarantine zone, but what starts as a simple job soon transforms into a profound journey across the U.S.
Abandoned cities are now being slowly reclaimed by nature and roaming bands of survivors are killing each other for food, weapons, or whatever they can get their hands on.
To survive Joel and Ellie must learn to trust each other and work together, in order for them to reach safety, or as safe as you can be in a world where everything is on a knife edge.
This game looks seriously exciting and interesting, not only is it a story about kicking ass and trying to survive when the odds are stacked against you , it seems as though its going to be more developed that that and at its core, is a story about humanity.
